Evan Campbell – classical guitar
Emilee-Mae Feely – piano
Jenna Sabolsky - violin
Evan Campbell
Evan has been playing the guitar since his youth, yet it was not until his high school years that he began to
focus his efforts solely on the classical guitar. Mr. Campbell has competed in numerous competitions over the
years and has received many awards, trophies and scholarships for his performances. He is currently completing
his Honours Bachelor of Music degree at McMaster University where his studio teacher is Brantford guitarist
Patrick Feely. In addition to performance, Evan’s passions include music theory and composition.
He was awarded the “Undergraduate Student Research Award” for music theory at McMaster University in the summer
of 2008. Evan will also be graduating this spring from McMaster with a performance diploma and will be pursuing
music theory at the Masters level next Fall.
Emilee-Mae Feely
Seventeen year old Emilee-Mae Feely began piano studies with Brantford piano teacher Virginia Blaha just
after her 4th birthday and she began flute studies with Dr. David Gerry of McMaster University, in 2005.
Currently she studies piano in Toronto with Professor Andrew Markow.
From an early age, Ms. Feely has competed in music festivals, including those held in Brantford, Burlington,
Hamilton, Kitchener, Norfolk, Peel and Toronto. She has consistently taken top prizes, trophies and scholarships
at these festivals. She has also competed at the Provincial level of the Canadian Music Competition (CMC), and
was a prize winner in the open class of the 2008 ORMTA Provincial competition.
In September 2007, Emilee was accepted on scholarship to the Young Artists Performance Academy (YAPA) at
the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, where she will graduate this spring. Courses at the academy
include private lessons, master classes, chamber ensemble, music history, counterpoint, composition, and general
musicianship. During her time at YAPA, Emilee has performed in master classes for world renowned pianists
such as Anton Kuerti, Marc Durand, and Andrew Burashko.
Performance highlights from past seasons include being the soloist for two
sold-out performances with the Brantford Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro David Bowser
(third movement Haydn Piano concerto in G major), giving the world premiere of “Slow Music-Meditations on a
Twelve Tone Row” by Canada's leading female composer Anne Southam, for a panel discussion with eminent Canadian
Composers at the Toronto Collaborative Conference of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers Association (CFMTA),
and performing a full length solo recital at McMaster University in Hamilton, as part of the lunch time
concert series.
As a chamber musician, Emilee has performed piano trio and quartet repertoire in Toronto at YAPA, as well as at
the South Western Ontario Chamber Music Institute (SOCMI). She participated in a two week, intensive
chamber music school at Appleby College, and spent four weeks studying, this past summer at the Brevard Music
Center in North Carolina. Emilee is also half of the father/daughter team “Duo Feely”, performing in recital
with the guitar/flute and the guitar/piano.
Ms. Feely plans to pursue post secondary education in piano performance, with a minor in flute this
coming fall.
Jenna Sabolsky
Jenna Sabolsky began playing the violin at the age of three with Virginia Little and at the age of seven
she began the study of piano Deborah Welbanks. She is currently seventeen, in her fourth year of study with
teacher and performer Adele Pierre, and in her fifth year of study with theory teacher Nelson McClinchy.
Jenna completed her ARCT performance exam for the Royal Conservatory of Music in January 2010, and is currently
working on her Grade Five History.
Since the age of seven, Jenna has been involved with orchestras and ensembles. She played in the Little String
Orchestra for eight years, and was concert master for two of those years. She has also played in the
Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Youth Orchestra for three years. Jenna played in a quintet at Mohawk College
last year, and plays solo, or in an ensemble, at numerous weddings, meetings and graduations. She also enjoys
teaching violin and theory.
Jenna has participated in the Brantford Kiwanis Music Festival since the age of four. She has won many
scholarships and trophies, was recommended for provincials for Grade 10 Violin, and received an award of
excellence from Mayor Mike Hancock. She was also recently awarded a scholarship at the Burlington Rotary
Music Festival.
As a grade twelve honour roll student at Assumption College School, Jenna has been awarded numerous scholarships
for her academic achievements in all subject areas. She is also a community activist, being secretary of
the Brant Community Foundation Youth Advisory Committee, co-president of the Social Justice and Numeracy clubs at
school, and a nominated semi-finalist in Brantford’s Search for Great Kids in the Personal Best category. After
graduation, Jenna plans to pursue chemical engineering at the University of Waterloo, while teaching music and
playing in youth symphony orchestras in the area.
Jenna would like to thank her teachers, Virginia Little, Nelson McClinchy, and Adele Pierre, for their
tremendous support, Deborah Welbanks, for being an exceptional accompanist, and to the Brantford Music Club,
for honouring her with this wonderful opportunity.
