Shawn Oakes
Shawn Oakes is active as a singer, instrumentalist and music director. Recent director credits include Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat, Oliver!, Trial By Jury, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, The Sorceror, Pinocchio and most recently Oklahoma! Selected performances include Papegeno (The Magic Flute), Fredrick (The Pirates of Penzance), Freddy (My Fair Lady), Joseph (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat), Bishop/Fueilly (Les Miserables) and Nick Bottom (Midsummer’s Night Dream). Orchestra credits include Fiddler on the Roof, Oliver! and Beauty and the Beast. Internationally, he has been a regular member of the Stuttgart Festival Ensemble in the European MusikFestival in Germany under the direction of Helmuth Rilling. Highlights of this tour were performing at the Berlin Philharmonic, the Salzburg Festival, and the Lucerne Festival as well as in an open-air concert at the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. He was also chosen to go to Montego Bay, Jamaica as a soloist for Canada in the bid for the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Shawn is a member of the ensemble Arcady where he performs regularly as a classical soloist. He is currently teaching instrumental and vocal music at Brantford Collegiate and has introduced a new Musical Theatre Performance and Production Program this year.

Roger Winter
Roger Winter has been involved in music in Brant County for many years and while attending Burford District High School and Pauline Johnson CVS performed many school concerts on his trumpet. After high school, Roger continued his studies at McMaster University, earning an honours Bachelor of Music in 2005. From 2002 to 2005, he was the Principal Trumpet for the McMaster University Concert Band. Upon the completion of his undergraduate degree, Roger focused his attention on earning his Bachelor of Education from Western. Since his graduation in 2006, he has been teaching in the music department with Shawn Oakes at Brantford Collegiate Institute and Vocational School. He currently conducts the BCI Jazz Band, Junior Band, and the award-winning Senior Band, which placed silver at National Musicfest 2008 in Ottawa. Roger has also worked at Sprucedale Secondary School in Simcoe where he introduced the music program. While his focus has now moved into teaching in the music classroom, Roger still performs locally in churches and currently performs and helps with the Brantford Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Bryn Blackwood

Bryn Blackwood has been in the studio of Virginia Blaha for the past two years, studying theory and piano performance. He is currently preparing for the Assiociateship of the Royal Conservatory of Toronto.
Bryn has been recognized by many adjudicators at local festivals, with scholarship and provincial recommendations. Most recently he was awarded the Markwell J. Perry Trophy at the Brantford Kiwanis Music Festival.
He graduated as an Ontario Scholar from Simcoe Composite School and is presently continuing further studies at that school. Bryn has played as a trombonist in the concert and jazz bands for the past five years. He plans to continue his musical studies at the university level.
